Before the storm

I took my new Red Bear, Ralph, outside for a little bit.
I wanted to sit with the birds before another winter storm came in.

I spent an hour listening to the birds, reading my book and thinking about my next hand sewing.

When we came home from our afternoon walk
I saw my first Crocus in bloom.
The herald of Spring in my gardens.

I finished another collar last night.
I had a tiny bit of shaping left to do this afternoon.

These look so nice with sweaters.
They are knitted wool scarves that I felted.

I used large coat buttons I found
 in my Grandmother's button box.

I put down my book
and needles.

I sat with Crocus.

I watched as she
closed her petals for the night.

Aren't those crocus like a bit of sunshine in the garden? They are so cheerful. I hope they aren't buried by snow and you get to enjoy them for several weeks. Ms Bear is sweet. I bet Mr Cardinal wondered who his competition was. tee hee... It is good you got outside while you could. The collars are interesting. Do you wear them?? I love that big button.

Dear Sherry, I love the images of your crocus.....such a breath of fresh air.

Ralph is cute.....you are just so talented.
The collars are so unique. Do you wear them? I am sure you must do.
The button is beautiful and a wonderful addition. Does Grandmother walk with you?

Dear Lisa,
The snows did bury this little yellow crocus but more have bloomed now that the snows have melted.
I do wear the collars. They are like easy warm scarves and look great with sweaters.
It seems I am always making something.
The Bears are very fun!

Dear Cheryl,
Grandmother does walk with me. I have a few things from each of my Grandmothers.
My maternal Grandmother, Margret, did all sorts of handwork. She was a knitter and a sewer. Her button tin is a treasure.
I have begun working with green felted wool. I think some green bears will be coming up in March!
