Dear Lana, The Gold Finches have eaten the seed. Now the sunflower is a perch for the Juncos. Come Spring I will remove the spent sunflowers and they will go in to the composit bin. Full circle. Sherry
Dear Sprite, The milkweed vine that was on the sunflower did look very lovely. It was one of the reasons my husband thought I should post this picture on "Artful Life". I love that, "Nature's signature". I will think of that now whenever I see a vine and its tendrail. Love and light, Sherry
Dear Kerrie, Thank you. I leave the spent flowers all winter for garden interest, seed for the birds and perching spots. I think they all look very pretty. When the sunflowers have their snow hats on I am tickled. Sherry
Beautiful image! I read with interest the comments here. I see nothing but beauty in your picture, no sadness. I love the colors, the composition, that little "nature's signature", everything. For me this picture is a promise of nature's strenght and rebirth, and foremost of its endless beauty.
Dear Merisi, Thank you. Some photos can bring out feelings and I think that is great. Each of us carries certain ideas and I love the idea of endless beauty. In all of nature's stages I find beauty as well. So glad you enjoyed this picture. Sherry

Kind of a sad picture, with the snow on the dead flower head. Effective, at any rate.

This sunflower is carrying a heave burden. It looks sad to me. :( However I think of how happy the seed eating birds are when they find this meal.
Dear Lisa,
It does seem that way. The burden of winter.
I liked the summer and winter of this picture.
The Finches did enjoy the seed!

Dear Sherry,
I always love to see the little twirly branches around some foliage.
It is like Nature's signature.
